There is
something
quite wonderful about walking through a colorful maze on a
golden
summer day on green grass. All your senses are engaged:
sight - sound - smell.
Anticipation -
What is around the next corner? Is this the way out? Will I find an
object here?
Celebration
and Joy
- The "I did it"
feeling. Finding the hidden objects, finding your way out. Many times
kids come out glowing, they run to their parents shouting, "I did it! I
did it!" A most memorable occasion was a young kid in a wheel
chair. He had to steer with a joystick. His parents let him go in
alone. After an hour he made it through the maze. His face
was
glowing with accomplishment.
Fun -
What
is more fun than walking/running around with your friends? Many times
the kids in the maze begin an impromptu tag game. At other times they
shout out, "Over here, the bells over here." We hide various
objects in the maze for people to search for. Sometimes there are drums
to find
and play, horns to honk, bells to ring. Sometimes we give you a marble
and you get to find and play with various marble drops.
Unique - This activity is so
different an experience.
There is no electronic video game, no loud music. Where else
can
you test yourself where failure is fun (oops, that's not the
way
out). You are doing this all yourself. There are not too many
portable mazes in the world. This one is unique every time. I design
the
maze for the site and then during the day, I can easily reconfigure the
maze to a new one in just minutes.
